2026 Honoree: Stephen L. Hyde
Community Leader and Philanthropist
Stephen L. Hyde is a devoted Catholic servant whose life reflects the mission of Catholic Charities through faith in action, generosity, and service to others. His decades of commitment to Catholic education, youth formation, and compassionate outreach have strengthened the Church locally and around the world.
Mr. Hyde is a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem and supports the Christian community in the Holy Land through prayer, service, and charitable works. As President of HFM Investment Advisors, Inc., he lives by the belief that “everything we earn is a loan from God,” using his professional success to uplift Catholic ministries worldwide. Through his family’s charitable trust, he helps distribute more than $1.6 million annually to Catholic schools, parishes, and missions.
In the Diocese of Wilmington, Mr. Hyde’s leadership has made a lasting impact. As longtime chairman of the St. Mark’s High School Advisory Board, he and his wife, Lisa, made transformational gifts totaling $5 million to support generations of students in receiving a faith-filled education. His service also includes decades of involvement with Catholic Youth Ministry, the CYO Athletic Advisory Committee, and numerous parish and diocesan boards.
Mr. Hyde leads by example through mentorship, generosity, and a commitment to nurturing the young Church. Catholic Charities proudly honors him with the 2026 Monsignor Reese Award for his enduring dedication to faith, family, education, and service.

The award, created in 1989 in memory of Msgr. Thomas J. Reese, community activist and longtime director of Catholic Social Services, the forerunner of Catholic Charities, recognizes exemplary individuals who have demonstrated a deep commitment to promoting and restoring the well-being of people which is the Catholic Charities’ mission.
